Did you know that ANA, Japan’s flag carrier, offers guided tours of its aircraft maintenance facilities? And the best part? These tours are absolutely free of charge! In this blog post, I would like to provide an overview of this tour and share information on how to make reservations. So let’s get started!
First, let me introduce an overview of the tour.
The ANA Blue Hangar tour is an opportunity to visit ANA’s maintenance facility located at Haneda Airport. The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours, with the first 30 minutes dedicated to orientation, followed by the remainder of the time for touring the maintenance hangar. The hangar houses a variety of aircraft undergoing maintenance, and you will be captivated by the sight.
If the weather is well, the hangar doors may be open, providing a chance to witness planes taking off and landing in close proximity, which is truly awe-inspiring. It’s truly remarkable that ANA offers this tour free of charge.
During my visit, I had the chance to see the Boeing 787, Boeing 737, and Airbus A320neo. As the Boeing 787 is one of my personal favorites, I was incredibly excited. You even have the opportunity to take photos directly underneath the planes, which is a dream come true for aviation enthusiasts.
Making a reservation is extremely simple. All you need to do is visit the official web site of the ANA Blue Hangar tour. Although the reservation page appears to be available only in Japanese, you can easily proceed with the reservation by using the translation feature in your browser.
However, there is one important point to note. This tour is really popular even within Japan, and the slots tend to sell out quickly as soon as reservations open.
Reservations begin exactly one month before the tour date, so it’s advisable to plan ahead. It seems that reservations start around 9:00 AM Japan Standard Time. Please be aware that slots, especially for weekends, fill up rapidly, so exercise caution.
You can reach the ANA Blue Hangar from the Tokyo Monorail’s Shinseibi Station by walking for about 10 minutes. While there is also an option to take a bus from Haneda Airport, it has limited frequency, so I recommend taking the monorail.
To enter the hangar, make sure to have the email you received upon completing your reservation, as you will need to show it. Please remember to prepare it in advance.
Lastly, I will conclude by showcasing a few additional photos taken during the ANA Blue Hangar Tour. While photography is generally allowed during the tour, please follow the instructions of the guide. Please note that you will need approval from the administration if you wish to upload the photos to social media or any online platforms. Detailed information, including contact details, will be provided on the day of the tour, so please listen carefully for instructions.
Thank you for visiting the blog. I appreciate your support, and I will also be sharing information on Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter,. I would be delighted if you could check them out as well.
